Discovering your purpose is the most significant thing you will do in your life, and you, your loved ones, and the world will be better off because you went on this journey …….. Mastin Kipp
When I first started this blog, my purpose was to highlight great food and cocktail experiences during my work travels. The pandemic and a subsequent lay off changed that plan, so I had to come up with another.
While I am still going through a phase of “what do I want to be when I grow up”, there is one constant in my world: the love of food. Not just the love of food, but history, understanding why we eat what we eat, etc. I am obsessed with cooking gadgets and tools, innovative appliances, spices, wine……..don’t get me started on that!
I feel that as we progress in our life journey, our purpose becomes stronger. Life events of all types (marriage, divorce, children, illness, etc) can cause our purpose to be postponed but not derailed. If we find ourselves doing anything other than our purpose, the feeling of betrayal can permeate throughout our being. There are times that life events have made me question my purpose altogether, but I always come back to it in some way.
I am a human resources professional, and I love what I do. But I get up in the morning thinking about what I am going to cook for dinner, what recipe I plan to conquer to sharpen both my curiosity and my self-taught skills. I even think about the appropriate wine that I can pair with my food (side note: if wine is not available then I will happily substitute cocktails).
I have decided take the steps that will allow me to live my purpose. I feel that curveballs might be thrown my way, but I am prepared to gracefully curve those.
I look forward to sharing my purpose with you all. Rest assured, there will be laughter, insight, and entertainment. I am hoping that by tapping into my purpose, others will be inspired to do the same.
Peace and bacon grease…….
