Wine Tasting and Dreamy Sauce in East Atlanta

Nestled in the heart of east Atlanta, the Glenwood area holds a gem where a wine connoisseur, amateur or not, can find something great.  Every Wednesday, 3 Parks Wine Shop offers a variety of wines that are not normally found in your local grocery store or liquor store, for sampling.  On hand is a wine guide who will educate you on the selected wine’s region, information on the section –(such as what wines are blended together if it is a blend), and also advice on foods that would best accompany the wine selection.  If there is a wine that you particularly like, they can order it for you if it is not in stock.
I ventured to the location at the end of my workday.  Honestly, I expected more than what I encountered.  But, since it was a free tasting, I suppose my expectations were too high.  The wine guide was very friendly and engaging, which made my short time there a pleasant experience.  Any questions I had related to the wines on hand were answered. I decided to show off some of my wine knowledge in earshot of two nearby wine snobs.  Interestingly, these want-to-be snobs never ventured outside of the United States and had some condescending and very untrue things to say about European wines. In order to dominate the conversation and rid myself of the aforementioned wine snob energy, I decided to share a few tales of my own European adventures with the camera shy wine guide that he found impressive (or so he said).

Wine on Tap, available to-go in nice glass bottles.

Even though I had a small amount of wine during the tasting, I had nothing on my stomach and found myself a bit too easily intoxicated.  Prior to being too sloshed to drive, I did manage to purchase a wine that I discovered on a recent trip to Dallas at Cru Wine Bar.  I purchased two bottles, vowing to start a collection.  However, I knew deep down in my soul that both bottles will be gone before the weekend is over.
I have come to really appreciate and love rose`.  The Marquis de Goulaine is exceptionally yummy!
I decided to venture a few feet down the street to The Shed, a Restaurant adjacent to the wine shop.  I had high expectations of this place. I vowed to myself  that I would attend a wine pairing event that they hosted on a monthly basis, but my plans fell through for a variety of reasons that I will not go into.  Apparently their menu changes daily-which was not mentioned on their website.  There was no happy hour menu fare, but they did have appetizers that were suitable substitutes.  To cure my impending hangover, I decided to try the Beef Satay with Thai Basil Sauce.  The satay was good, but that sauce tho!!!!!  It was light, airy, and incredibly heavenly.  It paired well with the beef.  I could have had a bowl of the sauce itself.  There was a lot of sauce, but not a lot of beef.  Despite this, I was satisfied with having something a bit heavy on my stomach, and ventured back home-not one bit intoxicated.
Beef Satay, The Shed @ Glenwood

According to the bartender, this sauce is whipped. Whatever the method used, it was beyond delicious!
